History

Elmer W. Davis, Inc. was incorporated on August 1, 1936, by Elmer W. Davis. Ownership transferred to his two sons, Charles S. and Jim Davis. Currently the company is run by Elmer’s grandson, Jeffery A. Davis, who has been involved in the company’s operations for over 25 years.

Currently, EWD is the largest roofing contractor in New York, and one of the top 40 largest roofing contractors in the U.S. During the height of the season, EWD has as many as 200 employees working in the field. In season this force includes 2 full time vehicle mechanics, 20 plus sheet metal workers, 7 crane operators, and the balance consists of roofers.

Our base of operations is Monroe County and we cover Central & Western NY. Extended travel occurs on a job to job basis.

The company offers a very stable working environment. We employ over 100 people with more than 10 years experience; many in the firm have 20 to 30 years of service.

Elmer W. Davis, Inc. has operated as a roofing and sheet metal contractor since August 1, 1936 without any interruptions. We are the largest roofing contractor in New York and all of our operations are in New York State. The company is locally owned and operated and all of our staff and senior management personnel are only minutes away from this project.
